Uncomfortable

"I tried this with my older (6 mo.) baby. I have had problems using my ring sling. I have a recurring back problem that is aggravated by the strain the single shoulder sling puts on me. So, I decided to give a front pack a try. I found the Snugli Comfort Vent for a nice price. I tried it for a while. Gave it a good test run. It put entirely too much strain on my body. It pulled my shoulders down. I found it carried the baby too low. I had it adjusted as much as I could. There was no way to raise the baby up any higher in front of me. He sat at my hips! He seemed fine with the whole idea, but it was horrible for me. I'm trying to get my hands on a Mei Tai or the likes. Better, even support on those."

Caution!

"I bought this carrier when I was pregnant, and before I knew about traditional slings. When I carried my newborn in it, the weight all sat on my shoulders, and was very uncomfortable. I also learned later that carriers that have the narrow crotch opening can cause hip and spine development problems. Separating the hips to place the newborn legs in forces apart their soft pelvic and hip bones more than they should be, and having them sit upright puts their weight on their spine, which is not a natural position for them to be in anyway (Think 'fetal position'). I know I wouldn't feel comfortable sitting in that position-would you? A better alternative is a Mei Tai Style that supports the legs as well."
