Didnīt like it
posted by Gully on 06/19/2008 03:55
"A friend of mine loaned me her BB carrier because I was thinkig of buying one, fortunately I didnīt because I donīt like it at all. My baby has always been heavy and I would manage about 10 minutes in this before my back was killing me. The craftmanship of this carrier is good and it is well made BUT looking good isnīt enough. After giving it back to my friend I started looking into other carriers and I do not understand why people still buy this thing, itīs not good for your baby."

Ouch!

"Ouch! I need to wear my high maintenance babies all day, and this certainly will not work. Also, baby 'hanging' at their crotch is not good for their spine. I'm so much more comfortable with my SlingEZee or ERGO, both which distribute baby's weight effectively across my back or hips and place baby in a safe carrying position."

wouldn't recommend it

"I had a 9 pound newborn and she hardly fit in the Baby Bjorn at a month old if she had a sweater or jacket on. Rather than resting comfortably on my chest, she'd come up to my chin and impede my movement. I wouldn't recommend this carrier."

So uncomfortable!

"After hearing the buzz about these carriers, I bought one to use as an alternate to my ring sling. But it is so uncomfortable. After using it around the house for an hour, my shoulders, neck and back are sore from carrying my 15lb 2 month old son. I'll stick with my ring sling which folds up smaller and doesn't hurt."

Very Comfortable

"I got mine when my 2nd child was born and am still using it with my 3rd and friends and family have used it in between. I have not had many if any problems with wear and tear as it has aged very well with very much use! It has nice wide padded straps so you don't get that cutting feeling on your shoulders and it distributes the weight of your child very well! The only downfall I experience with it, is that I cannot use it for nursing."

Baby Loves IT but...

"My baby has loved this carrier since he was about 4 months. Loves facing out. Will not hurt back or neck if you use proper posture. However, may to be good position for baby's spine. I am trying to get my baby (1-year) used to the Ergo now---it's tough because he lived Bjorn so much!! "

Baby Bjorn not good for small babies
posted by Kathryn on 06/27/2006 00:20
"I received the Baby Bjorn carrier as a gift when I was pregnant with my first child. She was born 2 months premature, and so we couldn't use the carrier until she was about 5 months old. (She's a tiny kid.) Even when we could use it, I have a short torso (tiny kid, tiny mom ;p) so I could never get it positioned properly on my back, and it gave me a back ache. My husband didn't have as much trouble with it, but neither one of us liked the way that our daughter was suspended, as it appears to put too much stress on her back. We pretty much ended up hauling her around in a car seat or, when we got padding for her so she didn't loll around, in a stroller. Both are cumbersom, but didn't want to shell out a ton of money on a new carrier. Now, I'm pregnant again, have a 27lb toddler who is getting too awkward to hip carry on my own thanks to my big belly, so we ordered a Mamma's Milk sling, as I've heard wonderful things about it. I'll review that one when it comes and I get to try it out. ;)"

Easy to use

"I like my Baby Bjorn for its ease of use. My baby really likes it and goes right to sleep as soon as I put him in it. I prefer to use my sling over it, but sometimes I will choose it first because it's so quick to get the baby into. The cons are that it really hurts my neck if I wear it for too long. I'm not sure the positioning is good for my infant, and I feel I have to hold his feet up periodically throughout our walks. I'm afraid his legs dangling for too long is probably not good for him. Overall, I like it and would recommend it to someone who doesn't want to try a sling, but buy it used if you can. It's not worth the money buying it new. I bought mine barely used off of Ebay."

"Made my back hurt, confusing to use, not nursing-friendly, and WAY overpriced!!!! I enjoyed the hands-free-ness of it, but I can't believe how much it costs for what it is!"

Excellent Carrier

"This carrier fits so comfortably, is strong, sturdy and easy to use, and does not hurt my back at all - it is easy to maintain good posture in it so you don't hurt your back or shoulders, which I was doing when I was carrying the baby around all the time! It's great to have my "hands free" now - she LOVES it in this carrier, quiets down and goes to sleep in it. I have the navy and like the style, my husband can use it too."

Great carrier

"I bought one two years ago with my son and I'm using it again now with my daughter. It's very sturdy and very comfortable. I love the support it offers my back and how it adjusts to growing baby. Definetely better than all those other carriers."

"I really don't like it anymore after getting the Ergo carrier. I hate the way the baby is suspended by her pelvic area. I would not use or recommend this product. "
